A large vintage Continental oil on canvas after Jacopo Amigoni’s Venus and Adonis. The mythological scene captures Venus attempting to restrain Adonis from leaving for the hunt, accompanied by Cupid, a hunting dog, and two putti above.

Rich color, dramatic scale, and an ornate gilt frame give this painting a striking Old World presence. Signed. Believed to date to the 20th century.
