Antique 19th-Century Continental School Madonna in Prayer

19th-Century Continental School Madonna in Prayer

A striking 19th-century devotional painting depicting the Virgin Mary in prayer, rendered in rich jewel tones of deep red, turquoise blue, and warm earth colors.

Painted in oil on an oval canvas. The restrained composition and saturated color palette give the work a strong, intimate quality characteristic of traditional Marian devotional imagery.

The painting is presented in a later gilt frame with a velvet surround, creating a particularly dramatic presentation while preserving the original oval format of the canvas.
