A finely executed oil on canvas depicting figures crossing an Alpine lake beneath a dramatic mountain landscape. Two wooden boats carry travelers dressed in traditional regional attire, while a distant hillside monastery or castle emerges against the peaks beyond.
The reverse retains a period canvas stamp for Edward Dechaux a prominent supplier of artists’ materials during the mid-1800s, supporting the painting’s 19th-century origins.
Presented in a gilt wood frame that complements the warmth and character of the work.
