Presumed Antique Hand-Carved Hooded Wooden Figure
An evocative hand-carved wooden sculpture of a mysterious hooded figure wrapped in deeply carved, flowing robes. Believed to be antique, although its exact age, origin, maker, and subject are unknown. Its solemn appearance recalls medieval devotional figures.
The back has a large flattened area with old adhesive residue, suggesting that the figure may once have been mounted to another surface or fitted with a supporting brace.
Provenance: From the estate and collection of Michael Kittredge II, founder of Yankee Candle.
Dimensions: 18” H × 6.5” W × 4.75”

Condition: Age-related condition, including a through-crack running down the back and through the rear portion of the base, a small area of wood loss to the front of the base, small holes, and natural wood shrinkage and checking typical of aged carved wood. Despite these imperfections, the figure remains stable when displayed. Please review all photographs carefully.
